It may be just one racer that crosses the finish line, but it probably took an entire team to get them to the start line. Racing at the elite level requires collective effort from many individuals, and the winning race run is only the final product. Racers work with trainers, coaches and mechanics, among many others, but the latter is perhaps the most important when it comes down to race day—the bike, as well as the rider, must be in top condition to take the top spot on the podium.
In this episode of Fast Life, meet the mechanics for Finn Iles and Kate Courtney during the third round of the 2018 World Cup season. For the two young racers, the mechanics do more than just wrench, they’re a valuable part of the team in many ways.
