Arkansas and mountain biking didn’t always go together. But in the last few years, with significant investment from the Walmart Family Foundation, Northwest Arkansas has become one of the fastest-growing riding scenes in the country. Towns like Little Rock and Bentonville, the latter of which is home to Walmart, both have booming trail networks—in fact, Bentonville served as testing grounds for Bike‘s 2017 Bible of Bike Tests .
Ibis rider Jeff Kendall-Weed made the journey to Middle America to find out what makes riding in Arkansas so appealing. Kendall-Weed samples the local trails with the riders who know them best, often stopping to session sections and trying audacious new lines. It’s not just a shreddit though, as Kendall-Weed took the time to interview many of the riders who’ve made the riding culture in Arkansas what it is today.
