The history of mountain biking runs deep in Durango, Colorado. From John Tomac ripping Hogsback Ridge in “Retread,” to hosting the World Champs in 1992, to the various NORBA Nationals, the Colorado mountain town has been a riding destination since the beginning.
Jeff Kendall-Weed traveled to Durango to meet with some of the local cycling community and get a taste of the long-developed riding culture. Kendall-Weed explores not only on a modern bike but also on a vintage machine that could very well be a centerpiece of someone’s antique bike collection. He discovers that old mountain bikes still shred and he also finds that having fun isn’t just about what you’re riding.
