It’s not uncommon for a rider to start with moto and transition to DH. That’s the course both Aaron Gwin and Ethan Nell took. Less common is to hear about a rider who started on a superbike. But that's exactly where Matt Walker began racing two wheels. Walker had one good result as a superbike racer and eventually switched over to mountain biking. Based on those results, it was a worthwhile switch.

In 2013, Walker joined the Madison Saracen Development Team—one of the first to do so—and received the support necessary to become a pure-bred racer. In 2017, he won the Junior World Championships. In 2018, he joined the elite field and has quickly proven he deserves to be there. He won the British National Championship and came in seventh at Fort William's World Cup. Expect to see more of Matt Walker in the future.
