Specialized came out with three different models of the new Stumpjumper. Two are what you might expect from Specialized—safe bets on solid trail travel and geometry—and then there’s the EVO: A departure from anything traditional. It’s a 140 millimeter travel bike, but with geometry closer to a DH rig. The chainstays are 443 millimeters, the reach is 475 millimeters on an S3 size (about equivalent to a Large), the head angle is 63.5 degrees rolling on 29 inches. Does it work? Matt Miles seamlessly clears big gaps, manages off-camber roots with ease and rails through corners to convince us.
