The feeling of freedom is almost tangible for most kids when they get out of school for summer. Video games and amusement parks were not in the cards for this 11-year-old. Weston Lloyd and his dad Steve planned a bikepacking trip to explore their backyard in Utah’s Wasatch Mountains, immersing themselves in some serious father-and-son time.
Sharing his knowledge of the mountains he loves, Steve opens doors for Weston to explore the world around him, and more importantly, to see how he fits in it. This initiation might be heavy for some kids this age, but Weston’s determination to carry his own weight and to become his own man is inspiring. This five-day mission created a bond that can never be broken.
