The Fun/Suffer Divide
The "Fun/Suffer Divide" is exactly what it sounds like. A bikepacking trip on the Continental Divide Trail that resulted in plenty of suffering and plenty of fun.
Bikepacking requires a special penchant for suffering. But it also comes with the promise of remote lands, beautiful views and solitude. And fun. Filmer Justin Olsen, photographer Scott Rinckenberger and Chris Shalbot experienced this firsthand last summer on a section of the Continental Divide Trail between Montana and Idaho. Across 200 miles, the team of three pushed, carried and occasionally rode their bikes across ridgelines, through scree fields and next to mountain-top lakes. They had fun and they suffered. This is the "Fun/Suffer Divide."
