My First Time Riding the North Shore

The North Shore might not be the best place for beginners

High-consequence skinnies? Check. Elevated bridges that challenge even the best riders? Check. Long road burn to the top? Check.

What else could you want when introducing someone to mountain biking? They might as well start with the best the sport has to offer. And you will have some fun also.

Okay, maybe the North Shore’s storied history won’t have your friend star struck when they have never even seen a bike bridge before. And maybe they won’t ever want to ride with you again (although that could be seen as a win, depending on who it is). But if they do catch the biking bug, they know what they can look forward to (and at least you had some fun).

If your new riding partner is into history, you can fill them in on what went down from 1996 to 1998 when the North Shore was just getting discovered.
