The Vallnord World Cup track in Andorra was long, rough and steep. Really steep. But the Athertons were ready. After some down time at Lake Garda, the team headed to Andorra.

But both Gee Atherton and Charlie Hatton were still recovering from injuries, and weren’t able to perform at their best. Hatton ended up in 49th and Gee took 33rd.

The women had better results. Mille Johnset took third in juniors, her second podium in as many weeks. Rachel ended up in second. After finding herself 3 seconds in the green with a fast start, Rachel’s bike kicked sideways, pushing her off the course and she wasn’t able to recover quickly enough to keep her lead. With a second place finish, she was able to retain the leader’s jersey for the overall.

The Athertons now have some time off from racing before Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec, August 11 and 12.
