Old School: Sea Otter Dual Slalom

A different take on a classic race

The Dual Slalom has always been a highlight of Sea Otter, and 2018 was no different. With one of the biggest crowds in the history of the race, the course was lined from top to bottom with hoards of American flag-toting, cheering spectators. Inside the fence, the likes of Kyle Strait, Mitch Ropelato, Jill Kintner and Anneke Beerten pumped, jumped and slid down the course, which took inspiration from the Dual Slaloms of old. Flat, tire-wide ribbons of dust lined by slick grass dominated the second half of the course, forcing riders to check speed in exchange for traction. Old- school building met new-school riders, and made for one hell of a show. Here are the results:

Pro Men:

1. Mitch Ropelato
2. Kyle Strait
3. Jared Graves

Pro Women:

1. Jill Kintner
2. Anneke Beerten
3. Claire Hamilton
