Yoann Barelli Crashes At World's Largest Urban Downhill Race
Red Bull Valparaiso went off over the weekend and one of our favorite Canadian-ish freeriders made an appearance. Yoann Barelli was down in Mexico in part to begin scouting locations for the Oaxaca edition of his flagship event, The Tour De Gnar, which is set to go down in December of 2024.
Unfortunately, Yoann's bid at Valpo ended in the qualifying round with an unfortunate crash that you can see below.
Fortunately, it was not a bad wreck and Yoann was able to finish his run and escape the event sans injury, but it is still scary to go down regardless of how serious it was. What's more, I can't imagine that slamming your hip on pavement going Mach 5 is much fun.
On the note of Mr. Barelli's other objective in Mexico, we are stoked to see what he comes up with in terms of features for the Oaxaca TDG. Part of what made the original special was that it featured some of the nastiest natural hits of the Sea to Sky Corridor, we are eager to see how those shoes are filled by Oaxaca's intriguing topography.
