Pros And Fans Are Roasting The New Snow Bike World Championships

The people have spoken

The UCI unveiled their new snow biking championship a month or so ago and despite what everyone was expecting, it turned out to be some kind of fusion between super G skiing, dual slalom, and downhill mountain biking

While the concept is sort of interesting, the general consensus among mountain bikers - or at least the ones who comment on social media posts - is that this is an absolute joke.

The UCI has been losing some support among the core viewership of mountain biking since they parted ways with Red Bull, but while many have hung on regardless, this new genre appears to be the nail in the coffin for many of them.

Here are a few examples of the general sentiment around this new format.

It appears to be a unanimous distaste from professional racers and fans alike. The UCI, which is already facing an image problem for a number of reasons including its move to ban trans athletes last summer, cannot continue to ignore its athletes and viewership.

Many see this move as the nail in the coffin proving that professional cycling is missing its mark. This has always been a difficult sport to broadcast to the masses, but it feels as though the UCI is grabbing at straws with this.
