Rider Sees His Life Flash Before His Eyes

I crashed watching this

Riding in the shoulder seasons can be unpredictable, to say the least. Between the variable conditions and either the excitement to start off the season or the honed touch of eight months on the bike, it can be a recipe for disaster.

Nikolaj Juhlsen Rasmussen found out that you can't always trust the features you rode prior to a little late season wintery mix.

Take a look at this clip of him rightfully losing his cool after nearly losing control on a very slick wood feature below.

It's unbelievable that he was able to hang onto this and with what looked like relative ease for how terrifying that would be.

For some context, finished wood like that when it gets wet is like riding on ice. Bike tires don't really love wet wood, be it finished or roots, and the thought of either will elicit a predictable grimace from any Pacific Northwest rider.

There really is no trick to riding them other than just pointing, praying, and being light on your feet.

We're glad to see that Nikolaj made it out of that precarious situation alright. That could've ended a lot worse than it did.
