Try before you buy is always good practice, but sometimes in the world of mountain biking it’s hard to find an opportunity to demo the bike you’re interested in. Luckily, outdoor demo events are becoming more and more common, with Outerbike being the most prolific. At Outerbike, riders will probably run out of time before they run out of bikes to try. In the past, Outerbike has been held at iconic venues like Moab, Utah and Crested Butte, Colorado, as well as up-and-coming destinations like Bentonville, Arkansas, ensuring that in addition to great bikes, riders are treated to great trails too.

Next summer, Outerbike is adding an additional stop in Idaho at Bald Mountain in the Sun Valley area. Perhaps not as well known as meccas like Moab, the Sun Valley area has still been luring mountain bikers for decades with promises of flowing singletrack and nearly endless riding. For the Outerbike event, to be held June 21-23, participants will be given lift access as part of in their entrance fee, which is in addition to the multitude of trails within riding distance of the base area. Lunch is served to hungry riders and exhibitors each of the three days, cooked up by chef Ken Moody. In addition to the plethora of independent rides available on the local trail network, rides will be held every day for those who might want more of a guided tour. Several trails start right from the event though, so riding different bikes back to back on the same trail without getting lost shouldn’t be an issue.
