The New Zealand MTB Rally is held in the top of the South region on the north end of New Zealand’s South Island. Riders were ferried by boat and helicopter between stages.
Amazingly, the men's winner needed nothing in the way of shuttles. Matthew Fairbrother did the entire race self-supported. He pedaled every transfer, climbed to every stage, and even kayaked across the water!
Enduro World Cup racer Rae Morrison won the open women’s race. See full results from the NZ MTB Rally here.
Multi-day enduro is a genre that gets rave reviews from everyone who has done one. Adding helicopters and boats to the mix makes the New Zealand MTB Rally a one-of-a-kind event. It is definitely a bucket list item.
