Intense Unveils Carbon Spider 29er

Carbon model loses weight and adds new features

Intense Cycles recently announced that, come November, they’ll begin shipping out a new, carbon fiber-framed version of their Spider 29 model. I tested the aluminum version for Bike this season and was impressed by how versatile and capable that particular bike proved to be. The new Spider 29 Comp sheds serious weight (the frame and shock reportedly weigh just 5.5 pounds) and adds a bevy of features, including ISCG 05 mounts, internal cable routing and internal routing that’s compatible with RockShox’s Reverb Stealth dropper post.

As is true with its aluminum sibling, the Spider 29 Comp also features adjustable travel. In this case, the two-position shock mount allows you to run the bike with either 4.5 or 5 inches of rear suspension travel, which is actually a quarter-inch more travel than offered in the aluminum Spider 29.

Similarly, the new carbon model also boasts Intense’s replaceable G1 rear dropouts, which provide you with the flexibility to run either traditional quick releases or a stiffer 142×12 rear through axle set-up.

Here’s a quick teaser from Intense….
