SRAM pART Project to Raise Money for World Bicycle Relief

Darcy Meeker's Dragonfly

More than 80 artists have contributed original works created from SRAM bicycle components to support World Bicycle Relief, a non-profit organization improving people’s access to education, healthcare and economic opportunity through the power of bicycles.

The art will be exhibited and auctioned at the 2012 pART PROJECT NYC charity gala, which will take place at 6:30 pm on November 29th at the Cedar Lake Theater (547 W. 26th St., New York, NY).

Tickets are available online here and while they don’t come cheap ($268 per person, to be exact), the tickets are priced to represent the cost of providing two World Bicycle Relief bicycles.

World Bicycle Relief has provided over 116,000 specially-designed and locally-assembled bicycles to some of the world's most impoverished communities through a system that incentivizes service-to-own, supports local maintenance and evaluates impact. Currently working in 12 African countries, the organization has created five assembly facilities, trained more than 800 bike mechanics, and established partnership initiatives to strengthen local economies and ensure sustained mobility for bicycle recipients.
