Brian Lopes Returns to Ibis

Lopes will manage Ibis' new U.S. enduro team

Brian Lopes, an Ibis athlete from 2008 to 2013, has returned to the company to launch a domestic enduro racing team. The team includes Evan Geankoplis, winner of the 2016 California Enduro Series (CES) and runner up in 2017; Essence Barton, second overall in the CES for both 2016 and 2017; Paul Serra, former U18 CES champion and Lili Heim. The team will focus on competing in the CES as well as North American EWS events.

The team has already shown its prowess inside the tape. Geankoplis won the DVO Winter Gravity Series Enduro at Bootleg Canyon, Barton took second in the Women’s Pro Enduro during the Sea Otter Classic and Heim won the U18 Sea Otter enduro. Keep an eye on the Ibis riders on May 26 at Toro Park for the first stop of the CES.

Brian Lopes first turned pro when he was 17, and went on to win nine national championship titles, six UCI Wold Cup titles and four UCI World Championship titles. In the midst of his racing domination, Lopes also co-wrote “Mastering Mountain Biking Skills” with Lee McCormack.
