Anmore, BC- July 20, 2009 – For the first time ever in Canada, International riders from Japan, England, Andorra, Slovakia and Spain will join our top North American riders to compete in the inaugural Vancouver/Whistler Biketrials Classic, which is a 2 competition event to prepare our riders for the World Championships in China.

The first round of the competition will be held in the Belcarra area on August 8th with the 2nd round held in Whistler August 14th and 15th. The Whistler portion of the event (Trialsworx) will be held in conjunction with the Crankworx Mountain Bike Festival and will also be the North American Biketrials Championships.

The top North American riders are all from the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island area with the #1 rider being John Webster from Mill Bay. John has been dominating the local events but with many of the top European and Asian Elite riders coming to these events to prepare for the Worlds, John will have some stiff competition!

Biketrials is the most spectator friendly of all the bike sports with all the action happening within meters of the crowds. Riders manoeuvre through 6 different “sections” going from start to finish within an allotted 2 minute time limit. Each time they have to put their foot down, or “dab” it costs them a point. The rider with the lowest points at the end of the day wins!

This is an all category event with riders from 5 – 40 competing. There is even a “Beginner” category for anyone to test their own skills. An actual “Trials” bike is not needed for this category.

In Whistler the sections will be in the middle of the Village as well as on the massive rocks of Fitzsimmons Creek.

To give the kids something to do in Whistler we have created a free event called Kidsworx. This is for riders under 10 to experience actual trials sections. All participants receive a medal!

To register please go to the Town Plaza area of Whistler Village from Tuesday August 11 to Friday August 14 from 11 – 5 or online at

If you have ever wanted to see world class athletes ride their bikes up cliff faces and down waterfalls this is the event to see!!!!!
