Yakima Rolls out the Dr. Tray

A lightweight rack with all the fixins'

First seen at Interbike, the Dr. Tray is Yakima's new remedy for hitch-mount woes. At 34 pounds in the stock two-bike configuration, Yakima says it's the lightest in its class. But that doesn’t mean it skimps on features.

The gray levers pop up to allow the trays to adjust in both directions.

It’s got all the basics covered: The tilt lever at the top allows for easy one-handed operation, the trays can be adjusted along the main beam and side-to-side to avoid interference between bikes, and there are both integrated cable locks and a bar for additional security measures. The tightening knob at the base of the rack expands a wedge inside the stinger, which keeps Dr. Tray from getting tipsy.

Perhaps most impressively, a third tray can be added to both 1.5″ and 2″ receiver versions of the rack, simply screwing into the main beam. Called the EZ+1, the $230 additional tray is elevated for clearance between bikes. The Dr. Tray is available now for $580.
