Exclusive: Thomas Vanderham Gets “Covered” by Bike

Getting on the cover of Bike is, to paraphrase the great Ron Burgundy, “Kind of a big deal.” For Thomas Vanderham, it’s been a good five years since his last appearance atop Bike.

We have a tradition of celebrating each new issue by sending framed covers to both the photographer and the rider in the photo. The December issue of Bike, on which Vanderham appears, is just now rolling off the press, so we haven’t gotten the thing framed yet, but that didn’t stop us from doing a hit-and-run on Vanderham—all sneaky and covert like.

Check it out.

The new issue will start infiltrating mailboxes this week and will hit newsstands during the first week of December. What’s in the upcoming issue?

In addition to some great columns from the likes of Mike Ferrentino and Kristin Butcher, you’ll find Seb Kemp and Dan Barham’s Angel’s Share, a massive feature dedicated to thoroughly exploring Scotland’s famed singletrack and single-malt whiskey. Fortunately, the place is blessed with an abundance of both.

As for gear… We’ve revisited some of our favorite things from 2013–including plenty of our favorite bikes and apparel.

Just one of several of our editors' "Dream Builds". The Tallboy LTc, dressed in SRAM XX1 was my main ride this past season. Which bikes did the other editors at Bike pick? You'll have to pick up the December issue.
