News: All the Action from Leogang

The Athertons fight to hold their leads on overall title....and then there was the Chainsaw

The fight for downhill dominance in 2013 all came down to this–the final round of World Cup racing in Leogang, Austria. For the men, it would be a duel for the World Cup overall title between Gee Atherton versus Stevie Smith. A couple of mishaps last week in Hafjell, Norway led to a 12th place finish for Atherton and reduced his leader’s margin in the series to a meager 17 points–easily within striking range of Smith.

For the women’s title, Rachel Atherton would need to fend off a surging Emmeline Ragot. Atherton had a comfy 160 point lead going into Leogang, but one bad mistake could dash her dreams for the overall win.
