Pretty much everything happened that could have in the downhill-racing weekend at Val d’Isere, France. The track here was new, which threw up more than just dust and rocks for the riders, Tracey Hannah took the unfortunate title of worst crash breaking her femur and collarbone.
Although fastest in qualification, Cam Cole couldn’t pull it out for the finals–instead it was time for the young guns to step it up. Brook MacDonald took the top spot, Gee Atherton held solid in second and Josh Bryceland put in a steady-looking, but super-fast run to come in 3rd spot. Aaron Gwin held on through his hand injury to take 5th spot, which was good enough to clinch the overall title.
