Diamondback Sortie 29er
Fresh form Diamondback Bicycles is its forthcoming full-suspension Sortie 29er. The bike will offer riders a big-wheel option to the 26-inch Sortie. The bike will sport 100 millimeters of Knuckle Box-delivered suspension in the rear and receive a 120-millimeter treatment up front. The Sortie 29er will be available in four build levels, ranging from the Sortie 29er 1 to the top-spec Sortie 29er Black. The upper three builds will feature a 142×12 rear end and Shimano build kits. The Sortie 29er Black is expected to come in around 27 pounds in XTR attire, and fetch just a bit under $6000.

Diamondback DH Prototype
Not too long ago Diamondback announced its DF5 Pro Factory Team. Created to aid in developing Diamondback’s R&D process, the primary focus has been on an all-new DH offering, which the Diamondback expects to hit shops in 2013. We spotted the first round of prototypes at Sea Otter and, needless to say, it piqued our interest.
Diamondback’s marketing director Jon Kennedy explained the bike is based around a single-pivot suspension design. Born on the World Cup Circuit, the single pivot design was chosen for its durability and ease of service. To further aid in this last regard, the bike features single-sided hardware (as with all of Diamondback’s KnuckleBox bikes), allowing for all pivot maintenance to be carried out on the non-driveside—a boon for race and home mechanics alike.
1st round of protos, 2nd is on its way. These bike’s are being put the the test by Diamondback’s new team.
Design focus has been around a single-pivot platform with concentration on a suspension location that provides a low center of gravity and balanced feel.
