Theater Thursday

*Bicycle Film Festival Special Edition*

The Bicycle Film Festival started 11 years ago in New York City, and has come a long way since then, growing to encompass events in 25 cities in the United States and across the globe from Helsinki to Tokyo.

An all-inclusive celebration of all things cycling, the festival seeks to highlight cycling in all its forms, and even though the event does have a decidedly urban focus, past films have included just about every one of cycling’s disciplines.

For this week’s Theater Thursday, here’s a look at this year’s festival lineup.

Dates and information can be found here.

Line of Sight

“Line Of Sight is a rare view into underground bicycle messenger racing which has become a global phenomenon. For over a decade Lucas Brunelle has been riding with the fastest, most skilled urban cyclists around the world while capturing all the action with his customized helmet cameras to bring you along for the ride.”

Rockville

Amidst the seemingly endless fields of the Po Valley lies Villa Rocca –a 20 people strong community, dominated by a 500-year-old, inexorably crumbling castle. For one day a year, the morbid and almost magical place comes to life. A colorful bunch of velophile Italians convert the castle grounds into a single speed cyclocross course.

Three-Legged Horses

A rickshaw driver with bad knees makes brief but powerful encounters with buskers, drunks and potential passengers on his last night in Edinburgh.
