NAHBS Snapshot: Shamrock Cycles

A perennial favorite of yours truly, Shamrock Cycles, a.k.a builder Tim O’Donnell, certainly doesn’t disappoint with his bikes’ exceptionally clean lines and exquisite execution.

With this particular build, O’Donnell drew his inspiration from the 1960s, “I wanted it to look ultra-modern—if you were looking at it in 1964.”

Adhering to a standard race geometry, the bike juxtaposes modern componentry (Campy Super Record in this case) and classic styling, based around the bike’s color palette from yesteryear. Officially called “So Blue” the shade lends the bike “the Sean Connery of paintjobs—understated” according to O’Donnell.

In keeping with the retro inspiration, the bike is outfitted with some truly classic components.

Where a simple pulley wheel would do for most, this Shamrock opts instead for a sealed cartridge bearing.

It wouldn't be a Shamrock without O'Donnell's signature bottle boss details.

Tasted. Denver was certainly not O'Donnell's first rodeo as this fully stocked minifridge clearly shows.
