Thursday, October 27, marked the launch of the highly-anticipated 2nd Base films production, From the Inside Out, which debuted with back-to-back sold-out screenings at Whistler’s Millennium Place. Written, directed and edited by The Coastal Crew, and produced by Anthill Films this new film was the ambitious first feature length project for these talented young filmmakers.
The sold-out debut saw an excited audience that was eager to see what the ‘crew’ had been able accomplish in just one summer riding and shooting all over British Columbia with some of the province’s best talent. It was, however, going to be a tall task to impress the masses with a film from arguably the most documented places in the free-ride world, but from the very first move, it was apparent that this local crowd, including myself, were not going to leave disappointed.
The film had everything I would have expected, from all-out speed, to moves that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up, and, of course, all that was captured with the progressive cinematography the Costal Crew has become known for. Add to that a candid look at all the ups, downs and behind the scenes moments that made this film happen, and I left the theater feeling as though I had just watched a movie that my local crew had been telling me about all summer. It had a refreshingly unassuming feel that left me up all night just wanting to go ride my bike.
If your looking for some extra motivation to get on your bike this winter, From the Inside Out is on tour throughout the fall, and will be available on iTunes December first. For more information check out: fromtheinsideout.secondbasefilms.com
