The final event at Crankworx is perhaps the one that best displays the riding, and what it’s like to be mountain biker, around Whistler, British Columbia. This event is the five-stage Canadian Open Enduro, which showcase some of the best descents in the Whistler area. There are climbs in this event to get to the top of the descents, but they did not count against the total time (they did, however, need to be finished in a certain time frame).
Brian Lopes book-ended his Crankworx events with wins in both the first (Fat Tire Crit) and final events at Crankworx. The Enduro saw a close battle between the top men with Lopes taking the number-one spot (with a time of 25:42.74), Nicolas Vouilloz in second (with a time of 25:54.18) and Remy Absalon took third (with a time of 26:09.78). In the women’s category, Anne Caroline Chausson (FRA) successfully defended her title in the Canadian Open Enduro with a time of 28:55.00. Katrina Strand placed second (with a time of 32:25.92) and Fanny Paquette wrapped up the top three (with a time of 32:29.21).
