News - Tara Llanes Out for NORBA Finals
After a thundering, double-jump crash during fourplay practice last week, before the Durango, Colorado, NORBA National, Yeti-Pearl Izumi rider Tara Llanes learned she will not be riding at the NORBA Finals in Vermont next week. Her injury list is extensive: a broken left collarbone, three fractured ribs, two partially collapsed lungs (with one lung severely bruised) and a torn MCL in her right knee. After being carried off the Durango course, her 60-point overall lead in the mountain cross evaporated. Now, without riding in Vermont, Llanes' chances of at least winning the NORBA National Championship jersey as top American is in jeopardy -- there are at least two riders within striking distance.
While Llanes is indeed hurt badly, she is expected to make a full recovery for next season.
