Holiday Gift Guide Guest: Morgan “Morgadeth” Meredith

Guest Gift Guide: Morgan “Morgadeth” Meredith

Morgan “Morgadeth” Meredith is the former assistant photo editor of Bike magazine, where he invested several years’ worth of blood and sweat equity into the brand. He is now the MTB PR Manager for SRAM, where he puts his neurotic artistic obsession to work promoting the company’s ever-expanding arsenal of mountain bike components. Morgadeth is most likely to be spotted in any number of North American bookstores, furiously flipping through the pages of magazines and critiquing their invariably pedestrian photography and page design. He’s also a veritable encyclopedia of hardcore music minutia, though his elders have discovered some astonishing holes in his knowledge of punk and metal history.

Welcome to the Guest Editions for the Bikemag.com Holiday Gift Guide. We’ve asked some of our industry and athlete friends to compile their ideal gift lists. The catch was that they were only allowed to choose one product from the company they work for (or are sponsored by).

$10
Chipotle Burrito with chips and guacamole.: About $10

I’ve tricked myself into thinking these are healthy. Don’t ruin this for me.

$25
Monster Children: $30

This fantastic Australian mag now has a US edition and subscriptions. Great art, music and skate content.

$50
Swrve Wool Cap: $55

I’ve been out of the cold weather riding game for some time now. This merino wool cap fits perfectly under my helmet and happened to arrive the morning of my first sub 30-degree commute.

$100
Mission workshop Rondels : $129

There is a time and a place for the carbon-buckled, super-stiff-soled, high-tech cycling shoe. These full grain leather SPD shoes from Mission Workshop are for all of those other times. Built for commuting, but up for the shuttle or trail ride challenge.

$250
Used Leica M8: 1/10 the of $2,549 = $250

It’s rare when a camera this small can output such a high quality image—hence the price tag (This isn’t even the nicest one). I’m saving up for this one right here though.

$500
Kreitler Rollers + This American life iphone app Combo: $505

The best way to keep it fresh in the winter. This is the only indoor trainer that matters. The This American Life App helps me forget that I’ll be riding a bike inside for the next 4 months. Ugh.

$1000
RockShox Revelation World Cup: $1,090

Revelation WC is the lightest fork in its class. One piece carbon tapered steerer and crown helps lighten the load. This model has Dual Position Air for bringing the fork down for crawling up those nasty climbs and 150mm of travel for schrapling back down. Available in 9mm QR,15mm or 20mm.
