The IBEX is the only single-wheeled cargo trailer with suspension on the market, and can carry up to 70 pounds of cargo over rough, uneven roads.

This trip was one of von Hessberg's and Schulze's most ambitious. They've also bike-packed Greenland (1992), Patagonia (1995), Mongolia (1996), Namibia (1998) and Australia (2001). On previous trips, the cyclists had used the YAK by BOB Trailers, also a single-wheeled trailer but without the suspension system. Because they were familiar with the YAK, they had some great comments about the IBEX and the differences between the two trailers, according to Damon Noller of BOB Trailers.

"The YAK has been the standard for single-wheeled cargo trailers for years," said Noller. "While the YAK has many uses and is a very versatile trailer, the IBEX is specifically suited for off-road use so that more remote adventures are possible for mountain bikers."
