“Sometimes, no matter how skilled you are, you’re going to have to get off the bike and hoof it.”
This is one of the opening lines in the video touting Pearl Izumi’s new X-Project shoe, which was co-developed with the help of racing icon Brian Lopes. The company is calling the shoe “the world’s first, high performance mountain biking shoe that hikes or runs a bike as well as it pedals one.”
The X-Project has been in development for two years and incorporates a carbon sole that the company says is stiff while pedaling yet flexible while walking.
Tall claims…particularly since there are some pretty good all-mountain style shoes (clipless ones, to boot) out there on the market already.
We’ll see how the X-Project shoe fares. Look for a future review.
