Ritchey Introduces WCS Trail Group

The famed brand acknowledges it's not all about XC-racing with its new trail-oriented line of components.

Tom Ritchey is well-known as one of the founding fathers of mountain biking. Along with Gary Fisher, Ritchey was responsible for many of the first commercially-produced mountain bikes to ever see trail time. Since then he founded Ritchey Bicycle Components, a brand long known for its race-oriented offerings.

Tom Ritchey and Gary Fisher catch up at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show in Sacramento, California.

Recognizing that mountain biking has changed considerably since those early days just outside San Francisco, Ritchey understands that XC racing is as broad of a focus to most riders these days. Enter the WCS Trail Group.

Designed with strength, stiffness and weight in mind, and afforded importance in that order, the new WCS Trail Group is designed around the 5- to 6-inch trail segment and seeks to offer the perfect compromise between low weight and extreme strength and durability.

WCS Trail Stem

The Trail stem’s beefy shape and wider 40mm faceplate are obvious stiffness-boosting design features, but the WCS Trail stem takes it one step further with Ritchey’s patented C220 clamp design. A variant of the 260-degree clamp found on the 103-gram WCS C260, the design removes unwanted flex and stress from the bolts and distributes stress throughout the body of the stem for a stiffer, stronger interface. As bar widths continue to grow, riders will definitely appreciate the Trail C220’s incredible stiffness.

WCS LINK Trail and WCS Carbon FlexLogic Trail Seatposts

The new LINK Trail post uses a proprietary clamp system that’s compatible with standard rail systems yet also adaptable to Selle Italia’s Monolink system with the addition of an adapter. Either clamp offers a no-slip grip and quick angle and fore/aft adjustment.

FlexLogic is a unique carbon layup developed specifically for Scott, Stevens and Canyon Pro Tour team bikes and offers 15% more ride compliance than our other carbon posts. The flex allows compliance on a vertical plane but not laterally.
