Details are scarce at this point, but if these glimpses from a recent video teaser are any indication, Giant Bicycles will soon release a 29er version of their popular Trance X model.
It’s no surprise, really. Giant dumped most of its “new and improved” pixie dust on their road line in 2012. The Anthem X 29er Advanced launch this past April, however, signaled that 2013 will be a big year for Giant’s dirty side.
The video below notes that longtime Giant rider, Adam Craig, had a hand in developing the new trail weapon and, yeah, Craig makes R&D look pretty rad. Check it out.
Trail-Bike Maestro in 29
Not all suspension designs convert easily from 26er to 29er dimensions. That’s been true, in particular, for Giant’s short-dual link Maestro system. Nevertheless it’s clear that they managed to make it work here. This first model appears to be crafted from aluminum, but given Giant’s expertise in composite manufacturing, I’m guessing that a carbon-framed version is also in the works.
When will we know more? As the teaser notes, additional information will be coming our way this August. Stay tuned.
