Schwalbe Evolution Tube

Schwalbe Evolution Tube
There are plenty of super-light tubes available, but most go for about as long as it takes to install them. According to Schwalbe, that’s not what’s going on here. Schwalbe partnered with its German compatriots at the chemical company BASF to create the Evo tube, which is made of a recyclable and heat-sensitive material called Aerothan. The 27.5 tube we have weighed in at a feathery 64 grams, and Schwalbe says that it has the same puncture resistance and air retention as a butyl tube. Current pricing is €19.90, so the Evo tubes should retail for a little over $20 when they come to our side of the pond. schwalbe.com

Blackburn Wayside Multi-Tool

Blackburn Wayside Multi-Tool
Blackburn’s new Wayside is loaded with 19 tools, including a chain assembly hook, a disc spreader and a serrated knife. Also rarely included in a tool of this stature are five individual ball-end hex keys that can be detached to reach awkward spots like brake-reach adjusters. MSRP: $35 / blackburn.com

Wolf Tooth Elliptical Ring

Elliptical Direct-Mount Ring

Elliptical rings are either quietly making a comeback or never really went away in the first place. One thing’s for sure: the contemporary designs look a lot easier on the knees than Biopace. Made in Minneapolis, this 7075-T6 aluminum ring has a narrow/wide tooth profile and ovality of 10% and timing of 112°, specs which Wolf Tooth claims matches torque to the rider’s power output without straining the knees. The oval rings are available in both direct-mount (shown) and four-bolt varieties at prices hovering around $70. wolftooth.com

Fix it Sticks Replaceables

Fix it Sticks Replaceables
Fix it Sticks aren’t new, and the Replaceable edition shown here isn’t either. But the handy tool does now come packed in a soft case with a Velcro closure. Included with the two sticks are 8 interchangeable bits (2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm Hex, Torx 25 and Phillips #2), which are held in place by neodymium magnets. The sticks can accept any standard 1/4-inch bit, so replacement or alternative bits are easy to come by. The whole shebang is steel. MSRP: $30 / fixitsticks.com
