First seen at Interbike, the Dr. Tray is Yakima’s new remedy for hitch-mount woes. At 34 pounds in the stock two-bike configuration, Yakima says it’s the lightest in its class. But that doesn’t mean it skimps on features.
It’s got all the basics covered: The tilt lever at the top allows for easy one-handed operation, the trays can be adjusted along the main beam and side-to-side to avoid interference between bikes, and there are both integrated cable locks and a bar for additional security measures. The tightening knob at the base of the rack expands a wedge inside the stinger, which keeps Dr. Tray from getting tipsy.
Perhaps most impressively, a third tray can be added to both 1.5″ and 2″ receiver versions of the rack, simply screwing into the main beam. Called the EZ+1, the $230 additional tray is elevated for clearance between bikes. The Dr. Tray is available now for $580.
