Recent storms dumped snow up and down the west coast all last week. The Bike web crew took advantage of the opportunity and set off to sample a once-every-ten-year snow dump on local singletrack. The result was a ridiculous 2-hour push to an even more impassable route, but proved that even the most arduous rides are a hundred times better than not riding at all.

Photos: Sven Martin Mountain Bike Photo Gallery

'Complex' is the easiest description of Sven's character. A legendary skateboarder who originally hails from South Africa, Sven's a bit new on the World Cup scene, but an old hand at the same time. As a kid, he learned to shoot from his father, a professional photographer, and would snap away on trips in the African bush.

Photos: Rob Jones Mountain Bike Photo Gallery

Rob Jones. Tall, lanky and not exactly happy to get dirty (but not afraid to, either, especially if it means getting "the" shot); that's Rob. In some ways, Rob's the chap who's "been there and done that" the most out of all of us from the race scene—he's been covering the World Cup since before it was a World Cup (Mammoth Mountain in 1987).
