The green flag drops in Vancouver this weekend as the third annual BC Bike race heads for the hills. The seven-day-long adventure race starts in the city on Sunday, and heads directly for the legendary trails of Vancouver's North Shore.
More than 400 racers, competing alone or in teams of two, have registered for this year's race. The course takes riders through the heart of British Columbia's best coastal trails—from the North Shore to Vancouver Island, Squamish and Whistler. The route, designed by Andreas Hestler, includes plenty of climbing, long stretches of logging roads, but also an intoxicating amount of singletrack. In all, it comprises nearly 200 miles of riding, with more than 38,000 feet of total climbing.
