Just built up a sweet new Foes XCT 5 to test out on what I hope not to be a death march out here in Utah. Tomorrow a group of are headed out for what ought to be a fairly epic five-day adventure. Cannondale’s inimitable Douglas Dalton is coming along and will be providing use of his van for our support vehicle.
Scott and Brad from White Pine Touring in Park City have been helping out with logistics and will be switching off between riding with the group and piloting the support van.
The Wasatch Range is about 160 miles long. A parallel spur of the Rockies, the peaks top out around 10,000 feet or so. Tomorrow we start near Ben Loman, reportedly the inspiration for the classic Paramount Pictures logo. (okay, the logo looks pretty damn dramatic… but what the hell, it’s Hollywood.)
Anyhoo, got out on a couple of shakedown rides on the Foes. So far so good. I’ve been here a couple days and daresay I’m getting used to the altitude. Probably won’t get to check in much from the trail as we’re planning on camping, but senior Bike photographer Scott Marketitz is driving this bus, so I’m sure he’s just going to kill it with the camera.
