California Enduro Series Finale: Santa Cruz Super

The Bell Santa Cruz Super Enduro—held on Saturday, October 11 in the beautiful mountains of the Soquel Demonstration State Forest—marked the fifth and final stop of the 2014 California Enduro Series. The event was highly anticipated, selling out in record time—less than ten minutes after online registration was opened! The race highlighted some of the best trails in Santa Cruz and the weekend’s festivities revolved around celebrating Enduro racing and an end of a great season.

The fast and challenging Santa Cruz course was a perfect finale for the 2014 California Enduro Series. The Series consisted of five races:
-The Battleborn Enduro in Reno, NV
-The VP Endurofest at China Peak in Lakeshore, CA
-The Livewire Classic Enduro at Northstar in Lake Tahoe, CA
-The Kamikaze Bike Games Enduro in Mammoth Lakes, CA
-The Bell Santa Cruz Super Enduro in Santa Cruz, CA

Racers at the Bell Santa Cruz Super Enduro were not only battling for the fastest times of the day, but were also racing to decide the Overall Points standings for the series. Many racers had an awesome season participating in all five events and getting to race some of the best singletrack in California.

John Hauer (Muscle Milk/Specialized) defended his Santa Cruz Super Enduro title and took home gold on Saturday. Only 3 seconds separated him and 2nd place, Jeff Kendall-Weed (Ibis). Times were tight- the top 5 Pro Men were separated by only 22 seconds. PHOTO: Called To Creation

The Bell Super Enduro challenged riders with loose, fast, and steep stages. The top racers fought hard for their spots on the podium, with places being separated by mere seconds. The day ended with food, beer, and festivities. Racers were able to relax after a tough day in the saddle and a long season of racing, and everyone left the venue looking forward to racing each other once again in the 2015 California Enduro Series.
