Some of the world's best slopestyle riders braved a daunting course and ever-strengthening winds in Thursday's Crankworx Trick Showdown, with combo maestro Greg Watts claiming victory in the first session and big-mountain baller Darren Berrecloth defying stiffening winds to sweep the second session.
In the first 45-minute session, Watts ultimately wore down the competition with a backflip double tailwhip off the massive wooden kicker that drew a fury of applause. As the competition moved down to the base of the course for the second 45-minute session, the prospect of tackling the giant step down and formidable winds proved too worrisome for many contestants. With the wheat separated from the chaff, The Claw seized the day, laying down a pair of switch 360 lookbacks that made him the undisputed victor. Watts and Berrecloth each earned a $3,000 check for their efforts.
