With the largest one-day cash prize purse in the industry, this year’s Whiskey Off Road is already drawing attention. While a $20,000 prize purse is practically unmatched in the world of mountain biking, what’s drawing even more attention is the fact that the purse will be split evenly between the top ten male and female competitors, making for a unique equal payout opportunity not usually seen in the world of bike racing.
Now in its eighth year, race organizers expect to see over 1,500 amateur and professional racers take part in three days of racing, riding, and celebrating all things mountain biking from April 29 to May 1. Set against the backdrop of Prescott, Arizona, the weekend will kick off with a pro-level fat tire criterium, an industry vendor and tech expo, and beginner-level fun ride on Friday. Saturday will present a complete day of amateur riding, with 25- and 50-mile races on tap. The showdown for the cash purse commences Sunday morning, with 50 singletrack-heavy miles determining which pros will see a payday.
Registration for professional riders opens November 1, 2010 and amateur registration opens January 1, 2011. For more information visit epicrides.com
