The guys from Mission Workshop brought the company’s new Acre mountain biking gear across the Atlantic, for some serious trail testing in the Alps. They also captured that journey in video and in a 75-page photo book featuring the work of Bike senior photographer, Dan Barham. Here’s a look inside the project.
Set in some seriously jaw-dropping scenery, this video is a smorgasbord of everything that makes BC great… It’s impossible to watch this and not want to ride.
It all starts out with a little trash talking: Who’s the “fittest” guy on the Giant squad? Who has the best skills? Obviously Adam Craig, Carl Decker and Josh Johnson don’t agree, so it all boils down to a game of “TCX” and some good, old-fashioned cyclocross racing. The stakes are high: Loser has to clean the other guy’s bathroom.
Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is no place for the faint of heart. When the snow dumps down in feet, rather than inches, the Yoopers just bust out bigger tires and get on with it. Imagine 15 miles of fast, flowy, bermed out single track, in the snow. That’s what Marquette’s Noquemanon Trails Network has built here, arguably the first trail of its kind.
“From Where We Stand” is about showing the world just how much beauty can be found in unexpected places…. The east coast is comprised of millions of mountain bikers who make up thousands of groups, clubs and organizations. The truth is, we can’t think of anywhere else you will find such a close knit group of people in such a far reaching community.
Buy 1 foot of singletrack for $5 and you could win your choice of any complete Santa Cruz Bicycles model, decked out in ENVE Composites wheels, Fox suspension and Shimano components. I’ve been thinking about a kid I met near the Iraq-Iran border a little more than 10 years ago. I was in Kuwait taking care of logistics for USA TODAY reporters and photographers moving back and forth between the carnage in Bagdad and Fallujah and all those messed up places….
Anyone who rides knows that a misplaced wheel and some pain are always just a millisecond away, but sometimes a video like this comes around and reminds you that it might be a good idea to re-read your Guide to Relocating Parts of Your Body, which has probably been collecting dust on your bookshelf.
What’s hanging on your walls? Ditch the Monet or Picasso and put up something worth showing off. We’re selling professionally mounted, one of a kind photos–some of the best to have ever graced the pages of Bike. You only have a few weeks to snatch one up. Proceeds from the sale go to WORCA, to help support the great trails around Whistler.
