When it’s not dumping rain in the pacific northwest, snow flurries are settling, leaves are dumping off the trees and Old Man Winter seems to have shed his walker, colostomy bag and oxygen tanks–he’s pissed this time around and he’s coming early. Which means that the window on easy-riding-days is rapidly closing. Hello, mud, crippled drivetrains and daily bouts with mild hypothermia. Goodbye, hero dirt.
Fabien Barel brings a new style to this fifth and final episode in his Fabien Barel Presents series. For the first time, we join Barel at a competition, at the Enduro World Series in Colorado. This is what it takes to succeed in enduro racing today.
A man and his van, roaming the countryside… Unless you are a 1970s crime-solving superhero (they all seemed to roam America in vans, meting out justice while aided by chimpanzee sidekicks) that premise generally doesn’t lead to a happy ending. The Heavy Pedal Tour rolls into Crested Butte, Colorado only to find the kind of rain and cold that they’d hoped they’d left behind in the Pacific Northwest. Sticking out the storm, however, proved the right choice because on the third day, the sun came out, the trails were perfectly tacky and the trails were great. Check out the video.
Who’s going to win the Red Bull Rampage on October 13th? How the hell would we know? Rampage is big, scary and unpredictable all rolled up into one crazy event, so you’re guess is as good as ours. Red Bull, however, has put together a new series that gives you something to chew on between now and Rampage. In this episode of the new “Road to the Rampage” we take a look at Tyler McCaul, Kurt Sorge and Darren Berrecloth as they plot their approach to the big event.
Summer was hot, dry and sunny… well not anymore! Heading to Austria for the Overmountain challenge, the team faces a hell of a week. But even if we haven’t see the sun, Ischgl’s area is so amazing that we still rode all week and loved spending time in the mountain there.
