Lake Tahoe has always been an outdoor destination for the greater Bay Area, but it’s only been in the last decade that it’s also blossomed into a true mountain biking destination. The 2013 Heavy Pedal Tour’s makes its eighth stop in Lake Tahoe, where they find world-class trails, a booming bike park and countless cool things to do when off the bike. Here’s the photographic proof.
The 790 MSL is rocky mountain’s top-of-the-line model. It bears a complete carbon-fiber frame that Rocky says weighs just 5.1 pounds. That frame sports ISCG tabs, a 142×12 rear axle and tidy, internal cable routing. Envy-inducing components include a SRAM X0 drivetrain, Avid X0 Trail brakes, a RockShox Reverb Stealth dropper post and Kashima-coated Fox suspension. There isn’t a weak link in this chain, but at nearly $7,000, there shouldn’t be.
The story isn’t always about winning, landing atop the podium and fist pumping to a cheering crowd of thousands. Scott’s Genius LT has always been a bike with a serious mission–to excel on everything from day-to-day trail riding to high-speed gravity pursuits. There’s a wide gulf between those two camps, yet the Genius LT has always aimed to bridge it, with just the flick of a switch.
Rocky riders, Wade Simmons and Kevin Calhoun, headed to the Monashee Mountains near Revelstoke, British Columbia to shoot an autumn alpine video of the new carbon Instinct. Mother Nature, however, had different plans and decided that some decent snowfall was in order, which makes for some excellent video. Check it out.
What is cyclocross? While that question may sound a bit “entry-level,” there’s still some quality footage and content in this video, which goes to the right source for information: Belgium. The video also taps into the minds of the best racers to have lined up at a cyclocross race, which might just be the most brutal thing you can do with an hour of your time each winter. Check it out.
