Finally, after six stops in “Colorful Colorado”, we were ready to leave the big- mountain state for slightly different terrain at Canyons Bike Park in Park City, Utah. Canyons was one of our favorite parks that we visited last year. The runs are short, but jam packed with well-built features. W
Well, the 2013 season is in the history books. After last month’s World Championships, I spent almost six weeks back home getting into the swing of a normal life and routine. It was tough getting motivated for this weekend’s EWS in Finale Ligure…but really, I wanted nothing more than to finish off the year with a win.
One day I got a phone call that changed that attitude, a call that every bike industry worker fears receiving from their parents, “I found a bike at Walmart” and worse yet, “it has suspension stuff on the seat post so I think it must be really good.” The guilt hit me like a ton of bricks…
Few companies enjoy a following like Chromag. Sure, the company makes smart components, but it’s more than that. There’s a kind of die-hard brand loyalty that is so often lacking in an industry that is often fixated on bling, techno-babble and fads. We spoke with filmmaker, Rupert Walker, on the release of this new Chromag video, aptly titled, “Family Album Volume 1″.
I’ve grown accustomed to wobbling down the trail like a mobile Quasimodo and have never really sought out a more compact hydration pack. Until recently, that is. This year’s Bible of Bike Tests Trail/All Mountain test loop starts and ends out of our front door.Running my great haversack of a hydration pack is a bit of overkill. This CamelBak M.U.L.E. NV was the perfect option.

Considered to be ‘the extreme capital of the world’ and home to Europe’s mightiest landscapes, Chamonix Mont Blanc, France, has a lot to live up to. But is it all it’s cracked up to be? The Trail Ninja gets down and dirty with Chamonix’s toughest mountain bike trails and discovers a secret or two.
The premise is simple: go downhill fast. What makes this competition a bit more interesting, however, is that this isn’t a downhill mountain bike race; Red Bull’s Road Rage is a race down Colorado’s Guanella Pass–and it’s all asphalt. BMX bike, road bike, mountain bike–as long as it has two functioning brakes, you can race it in Road Rage.
Knee pads don’t just have to be part of the freerider’s costume. Before trying Troy Lee Designs’ 5400 Knee Guards, I didn’t expect them to be so versatile. I thought they would act as a perfect double act in the winter – knee warmers and protection – but come the summer would probably be relegated to being worn around my ankles on long, hot climbs. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find they never needed to leave my knees.
