Welcome to the 2017 Bible of Bike Tests

The 8th edition of our annual bike buyer's guide launches today

The past seven years represent an evolution in the Bible of Bike Tests, from a print-only buyer’s guide into the multimedia bike-review extravaganza that is this 8th Bible. It’s been a process, and on a few occasions we’ve just straight up blown it, like that one time we didn’t use microphones.

This year, we’re proud to present the best Bible to date–a guide to 35 of the year’s most promising bikes, selected by Bike’s gear editor, Ryan Palmer, and tested on the rapidly expanding network of trails in Northwest Arkansas. As always, our aim with this year’s test is to inform and entertain. That means we won’t necessarily discuss the minutiae of every tube length and angle, or every component on each bike–our Roundtable Reels and reviews instead represent what each group of testers felt was essential about each bike. We’ve kept the videos candid, and we hope you have as much fun watching them as we had making them.

A lot has changed over the past eight years, but good old pen and paper is still our medium of choice for recording our thoughts during testing.

You can get a copy of the 2017 Bible of Bike Tests on print and digital newsstands now, and we’ve kicked off the online roll-out of our Roundtable Reels today with one of the most exciting bikes of the year–Trek’s Slash 29.

The rest of the Long Travel class is also posted, so you can either hide under your desk and binge watch them all right now at work, wait ’til you get home if you’ve got some semblance of self-control, or just take it easy and watch each review as we feature them on the homepage over the coming weeks.
